Keep the corks on for now. The Rangers aren't West champs just yet despite Martin Perez's best efforts. Jered Weaver was able to use his high strike zone wizardry to handcuff Texas as the Angels won late on a Mike Trout triple/Albert Pujols RBI single combo off of Shawn Tolleson who was throwing in his career-high fourth straight game in a tied game in the 9th.
Perez went seven innings of one-run ball and gave us hope that he'll be a big part of October baseball for the Rangers.
Player of the Game: Shin-Soo Choo continued his monster second half with a game-tying dinger off of Jered Weaver, a double, and a potential game-saving unreal running catch off the bat of Mike Trout in right field. Choo might just end up being the best player in the American League heading into the playoffs and that seems as unlikely as the Rangers battling to win the West.
