Jurickson Profar activated from 60 day d.l., to DH in AFL today

Jurickson Profar has officially been reinstated from the 60 day disabled list, and will reportedly DH in the AFL today

The Texas Rangers have announced today that Jurickson Profar has officially been reinstated from the 60 day disabled list.  This is a procedural move to allow him to be active for the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League -- Profar is expected to be in the lineup today as a DH.

Profar, as you likely know, has missed most of the past two seasons with a torn muscle in his shoulder that ultimately required surgery this offseason.  Profar got a few at bats late in the year as a DH with a couple of the Rangers' farm clubs, and will work as a DH in the AFL as well.

The hope seems to be that Profar, 22, will be healthy to start the 2016 season, and will be able to start the year in AAA.  The track record for position players who have lost this sort of development time due to injury is sparse, and Texas will no doubt want to focus on him getting regular playing time next year, especially since it remains to be seen what position his arm will allow him to man.
