The Texas Rangers have traded right handed reliever Spencer Patton to the Chicago Cubs, per multiple reports.
Patton, 27, came to Texas in exchange for Jason Frasor in the summer of 2014. Patton was up at various times in 2015, but put up a 9.00 ERA in 27 games for Texas, never gaining the confidence of the major league staff while being overly homer-prone.
The Rangers 40 man roster now stands at 34, prior to players being added tonight prior to the deadline for protecting players from the Rule 5 Draft.
UPDATE -- Texas acquired 19 year old second baseman Frandy de la Rosa from the Cubs for Patton. Frandy spent the 2015 season in low-A, after playing in the Dominican Summer League the previous two seasons.
