Fangraphs Top 200 prospect list: Texas Rangers place 10

Ten Rangers are included in the Fangraphs top 200 prospect list for 2015

Fangraphs Top 200 prospect list: The Texas Rangers placed ten prospects in the top 200 list put out by Fangraphs today.

Only Atlanta and the Cubs, with 11 players, have more guys on the list, and with all ten Rangers prospects graded at a 50 FV or higher, the Rangers have the most players at 50+ on the list, as well.

Joey Gallo is the highest ranked Ranger, at #16.  Chi Chi Gonzalez and Jake Thompson check in at #27 and #29, respectively.  They are followed by Nomar Mazara and Jorge Alfaro, who are ranked #46 and #53.

There's a big drop off after that, with the next group all in the upper-100s.  Luis Ortiz is #117, Travis Demeritte is #127, Lewis Brinson is #131, Luke Jackson is #135, and Nick Williams is at #136.

All in all, it is a very impressive showing, particularly given that all five players in the top 53 ended last season at AA Frisco, and aren't far away from the majors.
