Jurickson Profar needs shoulder surgery, which will likely end his 2015 season, according to Evan Grant.
This is a devastating development for Profar, the one-time #1 prospect in baseball who missed all of the 2014 season due to a torn shoulder muscle. He will undergo the surgery on Monday.
Profar was expected to take over at second base for the Rangers in 2014, which was a major factor in the Rangers opting to send Ian Kinsler to Detroit in the (disastrous, so far) Prince Fielder trade. Now, it appears his career is in jeopardy.
This sucks.
UPDATE -- If you want to have a little bit of hope before reality smashes it into tiny bits, there is this from Jeff Wilson:
Jon Daniels: Labrum injury Jurickson Profar had in 2010 could be cause of latest woes. If only labrum is fixed, Profar could play in 2015.
