The Texas Rangers have claimed lefthanded reliever Edgar Olmos off of waivers from the Seattle Mariners. To make room for Olmos on the 40 man roster, the Rangers have put Jurickson Profar on the 60 day disabled list.
Olmos split the 2014 season between AA Jacksonville and AAA New Orleans in the Marlins' system, putting up a 4.06 ERA in 77.2 innings of relief work. Olmos will presumably now be in the mix for a spot in the bullpen -- he's one of only four lefthanded relievers the Rangers have in camp, and one of the other three, Michael Kirkman, is sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Olmos was claimed off of waivers in November by the Mariners. Olmos appears to have one option remaining, so if he doesn't make the Opening Day roster, the Rangers will be able to send him to the minors without having to clear waivers, and can bring him up and call him down during the season.
