17 days until pitchers and catchers report to spring training for the Texas Rangers.
From Opening Day, 2014, through May 6, Shin-Soo Choo put up a .370/.500/.554 line for the Rangers. After May 6, he put up a .209/.293/.328 line, before finally shutting it down in late August to deal with a bad elbow and a bad ankle.
Texas gave Choo a huge 7 year, $130M contract after the 2013 season in the belief he'd be an on-base machine that would be a catalyst to the Rangers offense. He's owed $14 million in 2015, then $102 million from 2016-20. If the Rangers are going to be A.L. West contenders again in 2015, they really need Choo to perform the way they hoped he would when they signed him as a free agent.
Less flailing around while in the outfield would be a good thing, too.
