Antoan Richardson, an outfielder who was signed to a minor league deal this offseason by the Texas Rangers, has been added to the 40 man roster, per the beat guys on Twitter.
Richardson had the right to out opt of his deal relatively early, so by adding him to the 40 man roster now, the Rangers can keep him in the organization. He appears to have options remaining, as well, so the Rangers should be able to send him to the minors if he doesn't make the 25 man roster. If Delino DeShields, Jr., doesn't make the 25 man roster, Richardson appears to be a leading candidate to make the team as a backup centerfielder.
To make room for Richardson on the 40 man roster, the Rangers have put Martin Perez on the 60 day disabled list.
