The Texas Rangers have announced that Yu Darvish will have Tommy John surgery on Tuesday. The surgery will be performed by the fabled Dr. James Andrews, and per the beat guys on Twitter, Jon Daniels is saying that the hope is that Yu will be back by May of 2016, if not earlier in 2016.
This is what we all expected, and I guess we should be happy that the decision was made to do it now, which should put Darvish on track to be in the Rangers rotation by May of next year, rather than going to rest and rehab route and then ultimately needing surgery that would cause him to miss 2016.
But still, this news is a bummer. No Yu in 2015, officially.
