Friday morning Rangers news and links

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, everyone...

Sadly, yesterday's game got rained out.  No spring training game reports this morning, though we do have a report on the Rangers' starting pitchers' schedules being thrown off by the cancellation.

Jeff Banister is not traveling with the Rangers to San Antonio for their exhibition games this weekend because he wants to see guys who are fighting for roster spots, and who will be playing in B games in Surprise.

T.R. Sullivan has a story on two players who are fighting for a roster spot -- Delino DeShields, Jr. and Nate Schierholtz.

Jeff Banister says that the Rangers aren't going to look at Joey Gallo in the outfield right now, preferring to keep him at third base for the time being.

Evan Grant writes that the future is bright, and not far away, with Gallo, Chi Chi Gonzalez, Keone Kela and Jorge Alfaro, all of whom have had impressive camps.

The Rangers' website has a story on scout Keith Boeck.

The Rangers are rolling out more wacky foods at TBIA this year.

Sullivan's notes talk about Ross Ohlendorf being slowed by a groin injury, Juan Carlos Oviedo, Joey Gallo, and Tanner Scheppers.
