Texas Rangers sign Tyler Pastornicky to minor league deal

The Rangers have made a move to shore up their infield depth in the upper minors, signing Tyler Pastornicky to a minor league deal

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers have signed infielder Tyler Pastornicky to a minor league deal, per the beat guys on Twitter.

Pastornicky, 25, was released by the Atlanta Braves this past week.  He was acquired by the Braves in July, 2010, from the Toronto Blue Jays in the deal that sent Yunel Escobar and Jo-Jo Reyes to Toronto, with Tim Collins and Alex Gonzalez also going to Atlanta.

Pastornicky split the 2012-14 seasons between AAA and the majors, and never really hit enough to solidify a spot on the major league roster.  Pastornicky will likely join Ed Lucas in AAA Round Rock, providing the Rangers with some veteran infield depth.
