Derek Holland, the Texas Rangers' #1 starter (with Yu Darvish out for the year), has been removed after one inning from the Rangers' home opener today. This was Holland's first start of the season.
Holland was slowed early in spring training due to shoulder soreness, but pitched well in his final spring outings, and there was no indication prior to today that Holland was having any issues. Holland's velocity was off in the first inning, when the Astros got two hits, and scored a run on a Jed Lowrie home run.
We will update this when there is more information on Holland's situation, and what appears to be some sort of injury.
Those sinkers from Dutch were 87-89mph. He threw 323 sinkers last season and the slowest one was 88.7mph. They averaged 92.3mph. Sonofabitch
