Derek Holland leaves after one inning with shoulder stiffness

Texas Rangers starter Derek Holland has been pulled after one inning in the team's home opener with shoulder stiffness

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Derek Holland, the Texas Rangers' #1 starter (with Yu Darvish out for the year), has been removed after one inning from the Rangers' home opener today.  This was Holland's first start of the season.

Holland was slowed early in spring training due to shoulder soreness, but pitched well in his final spring outings, and there was no indication prior to today that Holland was having any issues.  Holland's velocity was off in the first inning, when the Astros got two hits, and scored a run on a Jed Lowrie home run.

We will update this when there is more information on Holland's situation, and what appears to be some sort of injury.

UPDATE -- Holland was removed because of left shoulder soreness.
