3-4 - Rangers don't quit, lose in extras to Astros anyway

Rangers spend 14 innings delaying the inevitable as the loss/win trend continues

Considering how things have gone this season, no one should be surprised that the Rangers followed up a win yesterday with a loss today. The ever generous Rangers gave us five extra innings of baseball to enjoy this afternoon, regardless. How kind.

The Rangers trailed 4-0 going into the 7th inning, tied the game at 4-4 in the 8th, and looked like they were going to win it when George Springer robbed Leonys Martin at the wall with the bases loaded in the 10th. Hank Conger put the Astros ahead in the 14th with a two-run shot after the Rangers hadn't allowed an Astros run for 11 consecutive innings. The Rangers left 15 men on base and could never get that go-ahead run in despite many chances.

And so, Texas ends the season's first weekend with a fairly demoralizing series loss to the Astros.

Player of the Game: It was Corpy Day. Carlos Corporan got the start behind the plate and went 2-5 with a double and the game-tying sac fly in the 8th.
