Things looked so good after the first inning. Ross Detwiler pitched a 1-2-3 top of the first and the Rangers were up 3-0 after the bottom of the inning. The Rangers' anemic offense stalled out -- collecting just three hits the rest of the night after four Rangers had a hit five batters into the game -- and didn't plate another run all evening. It was only a matter of time as the Angels showed why Detwiler is probably better suited for the bullpen as they pinned five runs on him the second time through the order.
The Rangers have now lost three of four games at The Ballpark and still haven't hit a home run in Arlington this year.
Player of the Game: Stolmy Pimentel made his Rangers debut and pitched 2 1/3 innings of scoreless middle relief while showing plus stuff. Jeff Banister pushed his luck in an attempt to rest an over-worked bullpen by leaving Pimentel in for the 9th. After the first two men reached, Roman Mendez allowed an inherited run to score that goes on Pimentel's ledger, but overall he pitched well. I'm sure he'll make a great starting pitcher.
