The Rangers survived a red hot Nelson Cruz and deadly Kyle Seager to win a series opener for the first time this season

Nelson Cruz up with the tying run on base in the 8th inning against a wild Tanner Scheppers making his season debut, and with walking Rangers death Kyle Seager on deck? And then Nellie hits a moon shot straight up to left field? My anus clenched so hard I almost turned inside-out.

Nice outing from Yovani Gallardo going six innings of shutout ball aided by three double play grounders and 14 outs on ground balls over all.

I don't know what Prince Fielder is as far as being a power hitter anymore but he's tied for the American League lead in hits while nearly getting on base 50% of the time. He's been really good. Tonight he went 2-3 with a walk and drove in the first run of the game with an opposite field double.

Player of the Game: Robinson Chirinos muscled a dinger to straightaway center field on a chilly night in Seattle for an impressive display of power. Chirinos also doubled, scored twice, and called a nice game behind the plate.
