Saturday morning Rangers news and links

Good morning, folks.

As of right now, the Rangers are a half-game back of first place in the A.L. West, and the Seattle Mariners have the worst record in the A.L., in the wake of yesterday's 3-1 win against the M's.

Evan Grant has a game report from yesterday's win.

T.R. Sullivan's game story credits Leonys Martin returning to the leadoff spot as giving the Rangers an early shot in the arm.

The S-T says that Prince Fielder has been one of the Rangers best players this year, despite not having a homer yet.

Evan writes that Prince Fielder is willing to go the other way more and to play more DH than 1B, both changes from past years.  Prince specifically said yesterday the Rangers are a better defensive team with Moreland at 1B.

Of course, Moreland is dealing with a "loose body" in his elbow that could necessitate surgery, which would sideline him for the next two weeks.

Evan takes a look at Prince's early success, with video of what he's doing as he's being pitched away.

Stefan Stevenson's Rangers Minor League Insider takes a look at several Rangers prospects, including Jake Thompson.

Sullivan's notes include items on Carlos Peguero, Tanner Scheppers and Adrian Beltre.

The S-T's notes talk about why Derek Holland's shoulder issue is different from Jurickson Profar's, Keone Kela, and Moreland.

And in the latest in the Josh Hamilton saga, Hamilton's teammates think he's ready to play, but he's still persona non grata with management.
