Jerad Eickhoff promoted to AAA Round Rock

The Texas Rangers have promoted righthander Jerad Eickhoff to AAA Round Rock

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Jerad Eickhoff has been promoted from AA Frisco to AAA Round Rock, the Rangers announced today.

Eickhoff, 24, is a righthanded pitcher drafted in the 15th round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Rangers out of Olney Central College.  He spent all of the 2014 season in Frisco, putting up a 4.08 ERA in 154.1 IP.  There was some thought that he would start the 2015 season in AAA, but with the rotation at Round Rock full to start the year, Eickhoff returned to Frisco.

Eickhoff will likely replace Wandy Rodriguez, who is joining the Rangers tomorrow, in the Round Rock rotation.  No word yet as to who will replace Eickhoff in the Frisco rotation, although the Roughriders could put Jose Leclerc, who has been pitching in a tandem setup with Victor Payano, in the rotation.
