Friday morning Rangers things

Friday morning Rangers news and links

Jennifer Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, everyone...

The photo above is of Logan Verrett.  This may be one of the last times you see him as a Ranger, as Evan Grant writes Verrett's failure to cover first base on Wednesday earned the ire of manager Jeff Banister, and may end up with Verrett being the guy who loses his roster spot to make room for tonight's starter, Wandy Rodriguez.

The Rangers may also have to make a second move on the pitching staff, as Alex Claudio may be joining the bullpen in the near future.

The Rangers' defense has not been up to par so far this season, but the Rangers aren't panicking about it.

Prince Fielder's glovework this season has been spotty, at best, but Robert Pike writes that Fielder's resurgence this season is such that, if he were a free agent, he might actually get a bigger contract than what the Rangers owe him.

Evan has a piece worth reading on Keone Kela, and his signing by scout Gary McGraw, whose wife had a stroke earlier this year.

Joey Gallo is expected to make his season debut this weekend.

Eric Nadel is hosting a charity event on April 30 for Focus on Teens.

Editor's Note: SB Nation's partner FanDuel is hosting a $125,000 one-day fantasy baseball league today. It's $2 to join and first place wins $10,000. Enter now!
