In the Series Preview, I promised sloppy baseball after both these teams arrived in the area in the early hours of the morning from the west coast. I didn't expect it would be both wet and sloppy. Drowsy and forced to wait an hour for the rain to pass at the start of the game, the Rangers came out and saw both members of the keystone combo commit miscues in the first inning on balls that should have been double plays.
Instead of getting out unscathed, Nellie Cruz drove in a run and the Mariners ended up scoring twice in the first. That would prove to be all Mariners starter Taijuan Walker would really need as the Rangers offense continued to be offensive. Coming into the game, Walker had allowed 15 runs in 12 2/3 innings. Nothing like facing the Rangers and their baseball-worst hitting to cure what ails ya.
Worst Player of the Game: Shin-Soo Choo is now hitting below .100. There's not even a funny name for being that bad at hitting. Shin-Soo Choo in 2015 is possibly the worst baseball player I've ever seen and that's insane.
