Mitch Moreland to have surgery, out 2-3 weeks

The Rangers have announced Mitch Moreland will have surgery on his elbow tomorrow, and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks

Mitch Moreland, who has been playing through an elbow problem, will have surgery tomorrow morning, per the beat guys on Twitter.  Moreland is expected to miss two to three weeks as a result of the surgery, which is to remove bone chips from his left elbow.

There is no announcement yet as to who will replace Moreland on the 25 man roster when he is put on the d.l. tomorrow, but the best guess is 1B/COF Kyle Blanks.  Blanks has been at Round Rock, but didn't play tonight, presumably in anticipation of him being up in Texas tomorrow.  The 28 year old righthanded hitter has a career .234/.319/.407 line in 862 plate appearances in the majors.

In 62 plate appearances for Round Rock, Blanks has put up a .327/.419/.635 line.
