Roman Mendez, Keone Kela, Delino DeShields, Jr. on Opening Day roster

More pieces are in place, with Roman Mendez, Keone Kela and Delino DeShields, Jr., being informed they are on the Rangers Opening Day roster

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Roman Mendez, Keone Kela, and Delino DeShields, Jr., have all been informed they will be on the Rangers' Opening Day roster, per the beat guys on Twitter.

Kela has, by most accounts, had a spot locked up for some time, though he was not officially informed until today.  DeShields has appeared likely to break camp with the team for a while, as well.

There were two spots in the bullpen still up for grabs, with Mendez, Phil Klein, Alex Claudio and Jon Edwards all vying for jobs.  Mendez claiming a role means one opening is left.

With Tanner Scheppers starting the season on the d.l., but not expected to be on the shelf for long, whoever makes the team in the final spot might not be around for long.  The bullpen has few proven pieces, but a lot of live and intriguing arms to pick from, and it wouldn't surprise me if the bullpen on July 1 looks dramatically different from the Opening Day bullpen.
