Josh Hamilton: Texas Rangers outfielder goes 1-3 in first rehab game

Josh Hamilton made his first appearance on a minor league rehab assignment today, going 1 for 3 before leaving in the bottom of the sixth

Texas Ranger Josh Hamilton made his first appearance on a minor league rehab assignment today, going 1 for 3 for the Round Rock Express with a single and a pair of strikeouts against the Nashville Sounds.  Hamilton was lifted prior to the bottom of the sixth, though that appears to have been a planned move rather than the result of any sort of issue Hamilton was having today.

Mitch Moreland also played today, his second game on his rehab assignment.  Moreland went 0 for 3 with a walk yesterday, and was 0 for 4 today.

Moreland is expected to be activated on Wednesday, the earliest he can return after being placed on the disabled list after undergoing elbow surgery.  Hamilton's timetable is more uncertain...he almost certainly will be with Round Rock longer than Moreland, as this is the first real baseball he has played since undergoing shoulder surgery in February.  My guess is that, while he won't spend the full 20 days down on the farm that a player is allowed to use for a rehab assignment, he'll get at least a week's worth of games under his belt before the Rangers bring him up.
