Rougned Odor has been optioned to AAA Round Rock, in a move that has been anticipated for several days now.
To take his place on the 25 man roster, the Rangers have purchased the contract of infielder Thomas Field, who is starting at second base today. The Rangers had an open spot on the 40 man roster, so no move was necessary there to make room for Field.
The other interesting lineup decision is Delino DeShields, Jr., starting in left field against lefthander Danny Duffy. Jake Smolinski has been getting the starts in the outfield against lefties, but he's sitting today, which could be a sign that he'll be the guy heading out on Wednesday when Mitch Moreland is activated.
The Rangers' lineup today:
Choo -- RF
Elvis -- SS
Prince -- DH
Beltre -- 3B
Blanks -- 1B
Chirinos -- C
Leonys -- CF
Field -- 2B
DeShields -- LF
Colby Lewis pitches for the Rangers.
