2015 MLB Mock Draft: Daz Cameron, the Georgia high school outfielder who is the son of former major league outfielder Mike Cameron, is projected to go to Texas at #4 in Jim Callis's new mock draft.
While speculation has been that the Rangers would take UC-Santa Barbara righthanded pitcher Dillon Tate if he dropped to #4, Callis has the Rangers passing on Tate to take Cameron. Interestingly, Callis has Illinois LHP Tyler Jay, who has primarily been a closer in his college career, going at #3...Keith Law has said that Jay would be a potential 1-1 if he had started all year, but most projections have Jay not going in the top 5.
Cameron is thought to be less the super-toolsy high ceiling type of high school prospect, and more of a polished player, which isn't surprising, given that he's the son of a former major leaguer. Callis has his reported price tag at $5 million, which would likely scare off some teams.
