Matt Harrison went 5 innings in a start at extended spring today, needing 77 pitches to strike out 9 while allowing three runs (just one earned) on four hits.
Harrison is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Sunday in Arlington, and depending on how that goes, he could be sent out on a rehab assignment next week. Alternatively, he could start another game in extended spring.
Harrison, who missed most of 2013 and 2014, is working his way back from spinal fusion surgery, a procedure no pitcher has ever undergone and returned from. Harrison was a critical part of the team's rotation in 2011 and 2012, and the hope is that he will be able to rejoin the major league team at some point in July.
