Delino DeShields has been officially placed on the disabled list by the Texas Rangers today, with a strained left hamstring. To take his place on the active roster, Rougned Odor has been recalled from AAA Round Rock.
DeShields is expected to miss 3 weeks after injuring his hamstring yesterday trying to run down a fly ball that turned into a triple. With Josh Hamilton on the d.l., DeShields had taken over as the team's everyday left fielder. The Rangers now have just three true outfielders on the roster, although third baseman Joey Gallo is starting in left field for the Rangers today.
Ryan Rua, who is currently on a rehab assignment, started the year as the team's regular left fielder. As a righthanded hitter who can play first base, second base, third base as well as left field, Rua will probably be up once he shakes the rust off after missing two months, given that the Rangers are very lefty-heavy right now, and can use a versatile righthanded bat to mix into the lineup.
