Martin Perez took the mound for the Frisco Roughriders tonight in a rehab start, and threw 39 pitches over 3 innings, allowing 1 run on a leadoff homer in the first, striking out four and walking 1.  28 of Perez's 39 pitches were strikes, and other than the homer, the only hit he allowed was a single.

Perez is working his way back from May, 2014, Tommy John surgery.  This is his second rehab start, although he went over a week between starts due to tweaking his groin muscle in his previous start.

Perez will most likely have a 60 pitch start, a 75 pitch start, and then at 90 pitch start, after which he would most likely be considered for a rotation spot.  Perez can be left on this rehab assignment until July 21, 2015, so the team has the option to let him continue to get work in the minors if they feel he needs more starts to shake off the rust.

Reports from Frisco indicate he was hitting 94 mph on his fastball.
