As expected, the Rangers have optioned Anthony Ranaudo to make room on the active roster for Nick Martinez

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers have recalled pitcher Nick Martinez from AAA Round Rock.  To make room for Martinez on the 25 man roster, the Rangers have optioned pitcher Anthony Ranaudo to AAA.

The Rangers had previously indicated that Martinez would be starting today, and while there was no formal announcement until now that Ranaudo was being optioned, he was the player expected to be sent down to make room for Martinez on the active roster.  Ranaudo was used for three innings yesterday in relief, and would have likely been unavailable for several days even if he had stayed on the active roster.

Today's lineup, featuring Martinez:

DeShields -- CF

Odor -- 2B

Prince -- 1B

Beltre -- 3B

Hamilton -- RF

Elvis -- SS

Rua -- LF

Telis -- C

Martinez -- P

Someone named Chris Rusin is pitching for the Rockies.  He's lefthanded, and apparently has appeared in 34 games in his career.  I've never heard of him.
