46-49 - Hamilton, Lewis help Rangers win third straight

Wouldn't you know it, the Rangers go back on the road and start a winning streak

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Colby Lewis has this thing where he gets blasted by the Angels like once per season. Last year, it was 11 earned runs allowed in 2 1/3 innings of action. This year, just before the All-Star break, Colby allowed 10 runs to the Angels in four innings of work. Tonight, in a follow up to his 7 2/3, two run performance against the Astros on Saturday, Colby threw 7 2/3 innings of two run ball against the hottest team in baseball.

For those counting at home, that's 15 1/3 innings allowing four runs to two of the best hitting teams in the American League for Lewis to open the second half of the season.

Perhaps more impressive, Colby struck out nine Angels which is the most Ks in a game for him since last August. Colby is a franchise treasure.

Player of the Game: Josh Hamilton usually has this knack for rising to the occasion. Tonight, in his return to Anaheim several months after he was banished by a spiteful owner, Hambone went 2-4 with two runs scored and a double.
