Johnny Cueto has been traded to the Kansas City Royals, according to Ken Rosenthal on Twitter.
Cueto, a righthanded starter for the Cincinnati Reds who is a free agent after the season, was rumored to be heading to Kansas City last night before a deal apparently fell through. Cueto then had a dominant start yesterday, on the heels of a couple of poor outings that had people questioning his health, and whether that made a difference or is just coincidence, we now have a deal in place, it seems.
Kansas City was a team that would have been in the market for Yovani Gallardo, should the Rangers look to deal him. With Yordano Ventura struggling and Jason Vargas going down with an elbow injury, Kansas City could still be in the market for a starter, but at this point, Toronto and the Dodgers seem like more likely destinations for Gallardo.
UPDATE -- Lefty Brandon Finnegan, a Fort Worth native who the Royals selected with their first round pick in the 2014 draft out of TCU, is reportedly going to the Reds as part of this deal.
UPDATE II -- Per Jon Morosi, John Lamb is also part of the deal:
John Lamb is expected to be among prospects going to #Reds in Johnny Cueto trade, source says. #Royals @FOXSports

Update III -- The final deal is Cueto and cash for Lamb, Finnegan and Cody Reed.
