The Texas Rangers have traded Jake Skole, the 15th overall selection in the 2010 draft, to the New York Yankees for cash.
Skole, 23, is a very good defensive outfielder who hasn't hit well enough to be a true prospect, and has become basically an organizational depth guy. He was suspended 50 games in 2012 for testing positive for amphetamines.
Skole was selected with a pick that the Rangers received as compensation for not signing Matt Purke in 2009. The Rangers also selected Kellin Deglan in the first round in 2010, and used supplemental first round picks on Luke Jackson and Mike Olt.
Other notable members of the Rangers' 2010 draft class include Cody Buckel, Jordan Akins, Drew Robinson, Justin Grimm, Nick Tepesch and Alex Claudio.
Skole is being replaced on the Frisco roster by 2011 first round draft pick Zach Cone.
