In a bit of news that will surprise no one, Josh Hamilton is having to get an MRI on his "chronically sore left knee."
Hamilton started the season on the disabled list, was traded to the Rangers, was activated, went back on the disabled list a week later, missed a month, and then was re-activated at the end of June. With Ryan Rua having been sent down to make room for Mike Napoli on the 25 man roster, the team is currently down to three healthy outfielders, with Adam Rosales presumably being the next option is someone has to go out there.
If Hamilton ends up on the disabled list, the Rangers would have a choice of recalling either Ryan Rua or Leonys Martin. Both were recently demoted to AAA Round Rock, although neither has played in more than a handful of games since being optioned. The Rangers could not recall either player today if they wanted a fresh body without putting a position player on the disabled list, since each player was optioned less than 10 days ago.
