TOS surgery for Tepesch, injured hand for Leonys

Nick Tepesch will undergo surgery for TOS next week, and Leonys Martin may have a broken hamate bone

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Tepesch, the Rangers right handed starter who has been on the disabled list all season with arm issues, will undergo TOS surgery next week, per the beat guys on Twitter.  This will result in him missing the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, Leonys Martin, who was sent down earlier this month and who has been playing at AAA Round Rock, will be seeing a hand specialist for what the Rangers fear may be a broken hamate bone in his right hand.  The expectation has been that Leonys would return to the majors when rosters expand on September 1, but if he does have a broken hamate bone, that return date would be in jeopardy.

in other injury related news from the beats guys in Twitter, Yu Darvish will start a throwing program next week, and Josh Hamilton's MRI on his sore left knee showed no structural damage.  Hamilton is in the lineup today.
