Chi Chi Gonzalez, the Texas Rangers pitcher who started tonight's game against the Seattle Mariners, has been optioned to AAA Round Rock to make room on the 25 man roster for Derek Holland.
Holland is scheduled to start tomorrow's game against Seattle, and is being activated from the 60 day disabled list. The Rangers will also have to make a move to open up a 40 man roster spot for Holland. The Rangers acquired Will Venable today from the Padres in a deal for a player to be named later, and it is possible that the PTBNL is a player on the 40 man roster who will clear waivers tomorrow in advance of the game, which would allow the Rangers to send that player to San Diego and open up a spot for Holland. Otherwise, the most likely scenario appears to be for Leonys Martin to be recalled from AAA and placed on the 60 day disabled list.
