61-59 - Rangers one-hit by Alfredo Simon in series-opening loss

Texas left their bats in Arlington as they drop the opener in Detroit

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Not much to say about this one. The offense did absolutely nothing against Alfredo Simon as they mustered all of one hit and Martin Perez didn't have it pretty much all night and was lucky to only allow three runs.

Perhaps the biggest crime for the Rangers in this game was allowing Simon to make it all nine innings as the Tigers' bullpen is pre-Sam Dyson Rangers' bullpen bad and could have helped Texas make a comeback.

Player of the Game: I'm not entirely convinced that the Rangers caught the plane to attend this game.
