Monday Morning Texas Rangers Update

The latest news on the Rangers and #umpshow

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning.

Jeff Wilson recaps the Rangers' 4-2 series-clinching win over the Detroit Tigers yesterday as Texas remained the leader for the second Wild Card spot in the American League.

Over at WFAA, some dude wrote about Cole Hamels picking up his first win as a Texas Ranger yesterday.

At MLB.com, Alejandro Zúñiga writes about Elvis Andrus playing an unexpected co-starring role with Mitch Moreland in the win.

Hey hey, Adrian Beltre set the record for most games played by a Dominican born baseball player yesterday!

Unfortunately, some call-up umpire decided he wanted to make a name for himself and ejected Beltre from the game along with Jeff Banister.

According to Beltre, via Wilson, the umpire didn't even get the right guy chirping from the dugout (even though no one should have been ejected for such an offense anyway).

Evan Grant held a chat over at the DMN and here are some highlights including EG's thoughts on which teams the Rangers would/wouldn't want to play should they hold onto one of the the wild card spots.

Bernie Pleskoff has a nice profile on Chi Chi Gonzalez as he looks to make that final step from Round Rock shuttle to big league rotation mainstay.

Lastly, a couple of days ago Matthew Kory wrote about the return of the contending Rangers for Vice Sports and likened them to a plate of eggs.

Have a nice day (everyone except for that umpire who ejected Adrian Beltre who I hope finds a spider in his box of cereal this morning and then a spider in his shower and then a spider in his car when he's driving to get milk because he only noticed he was out of milk after pouring his bowl of spider cereal and also when he wakes up and rolls over to kiss his wife good morning, nope, she's a spider).
