Houston Astros outfielder Carlos Gomez, one of the team's big trade deadline additions, will miss this entire four game series between the Astros and Rangers, according to Mike Peasley (relaying the news from Evan Drellich).
That has the potential to be pretty significant, as Gomez has been the team's regular center fielder since coming over from Milwaukee, along with Mike Fiers, in a July deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Rangers have three lefthanded starters going in this series, and with the righthanded hitting Gomez out, Houston is going today with the lefty-swinging Colby Rasmus in left field and hitting fifth, and defensive specialist Jake Marisnick in center field.
Gomez was seeing a doctor over rib/torso issues that have bothered him of late, but I have not seen any diagnosis as to the specific problem.
