Its that time of year, where Baseball America's League Top 20 lists start rolling out, and the Arizona Rookie League list is out today.
Two Rangers prospects make the AZL top 20 list -- Eric Jenkins, the outfielder who was selected in the second round of the 2015 draft, and pitcher Jonathan Hernandez. The Jenkins write-up has praise for Jenkins' work ethic and describes him as a "quick-twitch athlete" whose ceiling defensively in center field is quite high.
Never heard of Hernandez? That's not surprising, as he's someone who has largely been off folks' radar since signing for $300,000 out of the Dominican Republic in 2013. Hernandez pitched the previous two seasons in the Dominican Summer League before coming to the U.S. this year. Hernandez's line isn't overwhelming -- he put up a 3.00 ERA in 45 IP, with 33 Ks against 12 walks -- but BA praises his fastball and says has back-end starter potential.
