The Rangers and Tom Wilhelmsen have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one year, $3.1M deal

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers and Tom Wilhelmsen have agreed on a one year, $3.1M contract, avoiding arbitration, per Jerry Crasnick on Twitter.

Wilhelmsen, a right handed reliever acquired from the Mariners as part of the package received in the Leonys Martin trade, is in his next to last year of arbitration eligibility prior to being a free agent after 2017.  The MLB Trade Rumors projections had Wilhelmsen at $3M.
