Tanner Scheppers and Robinson Chirinos have each agreed to one year deals with the Texas Rangers today, the club has announced. Both players were arbitration-eligible.
Chirinos, who is expected to be the team's starting catcher this year, has agreed to a one year, $1.55 million contract. Scheppers, who will be fighting for a bullpen spot, and who will likely be in the Round Rock bullpen to start the year, has agreed to a one year, $900,000 deal.
MLB Trade Rumors had projected Chirinos to wind up at $1.4M, and Scheppers at $800K.
The Rangers have just three players left who are arb-eligible but who aren't under contract for 2016 -- Shawn Tolleson, Mitch Moreland, and Jake Diekman.
