Monday Morning Texas Rangers Update

The latest news and notes on the AL West Champion Texas Rangers

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning.

Anthony Castrovince writes about 15 unforeseen moves this offseason which doesn't include the Rangers going silent because we all saw that coming.

Phil Rogers is the latest to put the Rangers at the top of a list of teams who would/could/should trade for Jonathan Lucroy. Lucroy would be pretty rad but you know they're asking for Gallo, Brinson, or Mazara and that's a nonstarter.

Stefan Stevenson and Jeff Wilson tag team to write about Shin-Soo Choo proving you can go home again among their notes.

Anthony Andro pops up over at mlb.com to write about the Rangers participating in a sports equipment drive for the Garland tornado victims during their Winter Caravan stop yesterday.

Among David Laurila's notes at Fangraphs is one on the Rangers pitchers' potential to improve their awful 2015 K rate in 2016.

Stevenson writes that Sam Dyson isn't sweating his role in the bullpen.

Finally, one of the reasons Dyson isn't sweatin' it is because, according to Eno Sarris in this ESPN Insider piece, Dyson's got one of the ten best pitches in baseball.

P.S. Cole Hamels shows up twice (changeup, curveball) in Sarris' list of the 25 best pitches by starters in baseball.

Have a nice day.
