The Houston Astros have signed free agent righthanded pitcher Doug Fister to a one year deal, according to Chris Cotillo on Twitter.
Fister has reportedly been someone that the Rangers were (or should have been) interested in as a buy-low candidate, coming off an injury-plagued year with the Washington Nationals. Fister was dealt to the Nationals prior to the 2014 season, and put up a 2.41 ERA in 164 IP for Washington that year. He broke down in 2015, though, with a 4.19 ERA in 103 IP.
UPDATE -- The deal is for one year, $7 million, with another $5 million in potential incentives.
