Brinson, Mazara among top 3 OF prospects per MLB Pipeline

MLB Pipeline's top 10 outfield prospect list includes Nomar Mazara and Lewis Brinson in the top three

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Lewis Brinson and Nomar Mazara are ranked #2 and #3 among all outfield prospects in the minor leagues, according to the latest top 10 list issued by MLB Pipeline.

Byron Buxton, the #2 overall pick (behind Carlos Correa) in the 2012 draft by the Minnesota Twins, is #1 on the list.  Brinson, selected 27 picks later in that draft by the Rangers, is #2, with Jonathan Mayo praising his improved approach at the plate and 30/30 potential.  Mazara, meanwhile, came in at #3, with Mayo describing him as having the tools of a prototypical right fielder.

As the lists come out, it is interesting to see who has Brinson ahead of Mazara, and who has Mazara getting the nod.  Either way, the two are both very exciting, and very close to the big leagues...if all goes right, both players could be in the Rangers' Opening Day lineup to start the 2017 season.
