Texas Rangers projected arbitration salaries: Sam Dyson, Shawn Tolleson, and Jake Diekman are among the nine players on the Rangers’ 40 man roster who are arbitration-eligible this offseason, and MLB Trade Rumors came out today with the projected arbitration salaries for those players, as well as every arb-eligible MLB player.
The projections are based on an algorithm developed by Matt Swartz, and have generally been pretty accurate. The Rangers don’t have any really expensive arbitration cases today -- only Tolleson ($3.6M) and Dyson ($3.9M) are projected to even be above $3 million next year.
The interesting cases for the Rangers are A.J. Griffin, Lucas Harrell and Tanner Scheppers. All are projected to come in below $2M, meaning that all offer the Rangers cheap depth. Scheppers showed some flashes upon returning to the active roster in September, and keeping him may make the Rangers more comfortable with the notion of dealing one of their other bullpen pieces this winter to shore up another area. Griffin and Harrell, meanwhile, could provide the Rangers with a couple of options at the back of the rotation if they don’t exercise the option on Derek Holland.
