Josh Morgan spent the 2016 season in high-A High Desert, and as a result, Bobby DeMuro at Today’s Knuckleball got the chance to watch him and spend some time talking to Morgan.

Morgan, who turns 21 next month, was the Rangers’ 3rd round pick out of Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, California, in the 2014 draft. He was an above-slot signee who gets praise for his hit tool and approach, but who generates questions due to his power (or lack thereof). He spent the bulk of his time at third base for the Mavericks this year, but also handled second base and third base, and the Rangers have him listed as an “IF/C” for instructionals, after he did some work behind the plate this spring.

Morgan is an interesting prospect who will likely be at Frisco next season, and is a guy to keep your eye on.
