Rangers Sign Andrew Cashner for 1 Year, $10 Million

Andrew Cashner finally acquired!

MLB: Atlanta Braves at Miami Marlins Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

After years of rumors around the Rangers acquiring Andrew Cashner via trade from the San Diego Padres, Ken Rosenthal, TR Sullivan and others indicate they have finally acquired him by signing him to a one year, $10 million dollar deal as a free agent.

Cashner is a former TCU product that’s often injured by when healthy has shown high level stuff and has had some success at the major league level, but his results have been sub par the past two seasons. Cashner finished the 2016 with Marlins after a mid-season trade from the Padres.

I’m intrigued by the acquisition as short commitment for someone with upside, but my expectations for him will be low given his recent performance and injury history. But all in all I think it’s a solid signing.
