Good morning, folks...
Jeff Wilson has a story on the Rangers focusing on center field and starting pitching as they look to upgrade their team. Interestingly, he describes Andrew McCutchen as a “premium defender.” T.R. Sullivan’s story on the Rangers’ trade discussions right now says they may be less interested in McCutchen due to their desire to have a premium defender in center field, and McCutchen perhaps no longer qualifying as such.
Jared Hoying was non-tendered, though the Rangers’ seven arbitration-eligible players were all tendered contracts. The headline on that story says seven were signed to deals, which is incorrect and annoying me this morning.
Evan Grant has a story on the Rangers tender/non-tender decisions from yesterday.
The Rangers claimed pitcher Brady Dragmire on waivers.
Elvis Andrus, Rougned Odor, and Martin Perez are on the WBC roster for Venezuela.
Gerry Fraley has an update on LeDarious Clark and Luke Tendler in winter ball.
The Rangers’ traveling secretary, Chris Lyngos, passed away recently.
