Texas Rangers trade rumors: Chris Sale of the Chicago White Sox could be traded, but the Texas Rangers are out on him at the ChiSox’s current asking price, according to Ken Rosenthal on Twitter.
Rosenthal has the Braves and the Nationals in on Sale, with the Astros also passing on Sale at the what Chicago wants right now. Were I to guess, I’d say Chicago wants either Nomar Mazara or Rougned Odor from Texas, as well as Joey Gallo, and probably another piece or two.
The Rangers have been pursuing Sale for a while, but have consistently balked at the asking price on him. The Nationals and the Braves both have serious pieces available to deal, and if the Braves truly want Sale, they would seem to be the favorite to land him.
If Rosenthal is right, and the Rangers are out on Sale, we can expect them to re-engage with the Rays on their starting pitchers — Chris Archer and Jake Odorizzi in particular. Texas doesn’t have the high-level talent to deal it has had in the past, what with Lewis Brinson, Dillon Tate, Luis Ortiz, Nick Williams, Jorge Alfaro, and Jake Thompson all having been shipped out in the last year and a half, but Texas does have quality major league relievers, as well as quantity in the minors to try to structure a trade.
