Good morning, folks...
The Rangers agreed to a one year deal with Carlos Gomez yesterday.
Gomez will reportedly get $11.5 million on the one year deal.
Prior to that agreement, T.R. Sullivan wrote about the Rangers’ center field options, and even with Gomez in the fold, they could pursue a premium defender in center and put Gomez in left.
Jeff Wilson writes about the Rangers opting not to go after Chris Sale this winter, and seems to imply the Rangers should have been more aggressive about pursuing him over the summer.
Evan Grant writes that the Rangers can’t afford to lose Yu Darvish as a free agent, and thus should either extend him or trade him. I vehemently disagree...you don’t trade Yu unless you are prepared to go full rebuild.
Mitch Moreland signed with the Boston Red Sox yesterday.
Evan writes that that could pave the way for Joey Gallo to take over the first base job at some point in 2017.
There’s a charity auction going on that includes an opportunity to play golf with Pudge Rodriguez.
The DMN has five things to know about Tanner Scheppers.
Sullivan has some notes on the Rangers and Sale, Moreland’s departure, playoff shares, Derek Holland, and Matt Bush.
Levi Weaver has his Baseball Texas notes up from yesterday.
