Texas Rangers manager Jeff Banister has had his contract option for the 2018 season picked up, according to John Blake on Twitter. The Rangers also have added a 2019 option to Banister's contract.
Banister, who was hired by the Rangers last offseason to replace longtime manager Ron Washington after Wash resigned late in the 2014 season, was a first time major league manager last year when he led the team to a division title and a berth in the ALDS. Banister was named A.L. Manager of the Year in 2015.
